SunLife - RGD Mentorship.

Present information in an accessible and engaging way.

1. How it started
This project was from the RGD Mentorship program that I was paired up with a senior graphic designer at Sun Life.

I applied to a mentorship program held by RGD (Association of Registered Graphic Designers). It began as I got an e-mail that I am ready to start the mentorship with Sun Life Senior Graphic Designer. My task was to present information in an accessible and engaging way, which was a brochure re-design. However, I wanted to learn more about UX/UI, so we did the extra task to design a responsive microsite in both my own style and  SunLife’s brand style.

My mentor briefed out the project to me and we had the meeting biweekly to check how I am working on, and If I have any questions on the task. I was also given the brand playbook (brand guideline), fonts, and logo files etc. to learn about the brand and the ideas.
2. Begins with information design
This is the brochure book I re-designed following Sun Life’s brand guide.

3. Continues with microsite
Designed microsite in 2 styles, first to follow Sun Life’s brand style and second, to design in my own style.

4. Positive feedback from the mentor
What do you perceive to be your mentees greatest strength?
Reina takes direction/feedback really well. She is open to discuss creative options and solutions.

What areas of growth could improve your mentee’s success in the industry?
Reina is a great designer and has a great creative skill set. She needs to believe in herself and her skill set more.

Do you have other thoughts about your Mentee that you would like to share?
Working with Reina was a great experience! She was very sweet and a joy to work with. She pushed her creative limits and designed two versions for the brief. She listened to feedback and really put thought into her work. She asked great questions and you can tell she wants to learn as much as possible. Very excited to see how her career evolves.
